The Fitness League - all teachers are fully qualified in the Bagot-Stack System of exercise

This unique system developed by Mary Bagot Stack in the 1930’s. Her aim was to provide a "Complete Body Workout" with special emphasis on Central Control. "The steady centre made by the lower back and abdomen being strongly drawn towards each other". In Yoga and Pilates Classes this is referred to as Core Stability. We in The Fitness League like to think of it as Posture in Action, allowing freedom of movement in the upper body and limbs while anchored to a strong centre. From this position exercises can be performed safely and effectively.

Music - to get the full benefit from an exercise class it is important that you enjoy it. Fitness League teachers put great emphasis on choosing and selecting a variety of music to accompany each exercise, which encourages maximum effort. At the start of every class your teacher will lead you through a Warm Up designed to raise your pulse and breathing rate gradually and to mobilise and stretch your body gently in preparation for the exercises to come. Your body is 'loosened up' by easy rhythmic movements which take the joints through their normal range and slightly further. Music used as an expressive tool is one of the aspects that sets us apart from other exercise systems.

The exercises are low impact, effective, powerful and safe, minimizing stress on the weight-bearing joints, suitable for all abilities and frequently recommended by physiotherapists. Members testify to the fact that their recovery from illness and injury is remarkable, due to the fact that they have been exercising on a regular basis with the Fitness League.

 We all know that exercise gives you that feel good factor! So why not make it your weekly fix? Our classes provide a warm friendly welcome where each teacher takes a personal interest in the progress of their members. Under her tuition there will be a noticeable improvement in posture, mobility, muscle strength and stamina.

Today, the Fitness League Ireland is thriving, mainly due to the fact that the late Isolde McCullagh through hard work, enthusiasm and belief in the Bagot Stack System of Exercise trained many of the current Irish teachers.
